  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • For the frosting: 6 tablespoons whole milk
  • 5 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 4 cups confectioners sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 10×15 inch pan.
  2. In a saucepan, melt butter with water and cocoa powder; bring to a boil and set aside.
  3. In another bowl, whisk sour cream and eggs until smooth.
  4. Combine flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt in a mixing bowl; then mix in the wet ingredients followed by the chocolate mixture until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the pan and bake for 22-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. For frosting: boil milk, cocoa powder, and butter; remove from heat and stir in confectioners’ sugar, vanilla extract, and pecans.
  7. Frost the warm cake before serving.
