  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup melted butter or vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for topping)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (for topping)
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans (for topping)
  • 1 1/2 cups very hot water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, granulated sugar, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.
  3. In another bowl, combine pumpkin puree, milk, melted butter or oil, and vanilla.
  4. Mix wet ingredients into dry ingredients until just combined.
  5. Pour batter into an 8-inch casserole dish.
  6. In a separate bowl, mix granulated sugar, brown sugar, and chopped pecans; sprinkle over batter.
  7. Carefully pour hot water over the entire mixture without stirring.
  8. Bake for 40 minutes or until the center is set; let cool for 5-10 minutes before serving.
