  • 3/4 pound extra lean ground beef
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium yellow onion, chopped
  • 1 (15-ounce) can chopped stewed tomatoes
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 (15-ounce) can pinto beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan over medium heat, brown the ground beef with garlic and onion for about 10 minutes. Drain excess liquid.
  2. Stir in chopped tomatoes, beef broth, chili powder, ground cumin, oregano, and cayenne pepper.
  3. Reduce heat to low; cover and simmer for one hour, stirring occasionally.
  4. Add pinto beans and salt; stir well and cook for another 15 minutes. Serve hot.
