Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup + 2 tablespoons warm water
  • 1 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • 3 tablespoons canola oil
  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • ½ teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1 tablespoon grated parmesan cheese
  • Marinara sauce (for serving)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Let it sit until foamy.
  2. Add salt, oil, and two cups of flour to the mixture. Mix well.
  3. Gradually add remaining flour until a soft dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough until smooth, then let it rise in a greased bowl covered with a towel for one hour.
  5. Punch down the dough, divide into 16 pieces, and roll each into a 12-inch rope. Cut slits on both sides and twist to create bone shapes.
  6. Place on a greased baking sheet and allow to rise again for about 45 minutes.
  7. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) during the last 10 minutes of rising.
  8. Bake for 12-14 minutes until golden brown. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with garlic salt and parmesan before serving.
