  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 & 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cut into 4 slices
  • 1 large egg, at room temperature
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, very soft
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 4 ounces block cream cheese, room temperature
  • 5 tablespoons unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1 & 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Combine 3 cups of flour, sugar, yeast, and salt in a large bowl; whisk together.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, mix water, milk, and sliced butter until melted; let cool slightly before adding the egg.
  3. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir to form a thick dough.
  4. Gradually add more flour until the dough comes together; knead until smooth.
  5. Cover and let rise for 20 minutes.
  6. Roll out dough into a rectangle; spread softened butter over it and sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon.
  7. Roll up tightly, cut into even pieces, place in a greased baking dish, and let rise for 45 minutes.
  8. Bake at 350°F for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Mix cream cheese frosting ingredients together and frost warm rolls.
